Welcome to an inspiring afternoon about public space festivals, events and inclusion organized by the Centre for Tourism, School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg, the European Hera project FESTSPACE and Gothenburg & Co.
Date: Friday 8th April 2022 Time: 12.00 – 16.00 (CET) Place: University of Gothenburg and online (first part)
During the COVID19 pandemic public space festivals and events have been cancelled, postponed, or managed differently. This unprecedented situation requires and opens up for new governance approaches able to address the post-COVID19 recovery, where health and safety as well as social engagement, cultural inclusion and digitalization are of pivotal importance. How do we ensure the social sustainability of public space festival and events in the post-pandemic city? The seminar addresses these issues, and invites both researchers and practitioners in the festivals and events sector to discuss lessons learned, best practises and the way forward for the public space event.
Programme:
12.00 Lunch and insights from the Festspace research projects in Barcelona, Dublin, Glasgow, Gothenburg and London (this part is hybrid and in English).
14.00 Workshop (in Swedish) “How do we ensure the social sustainability of public space festival and events in the post-pandemic city?”
